Femme Fest 2012
We have all this in our city: powerful energy, progressive ideas, people obsessed with creation and new ways seeking, creators that have something to say and clever audience that is able to see, hear and feel true.
But try to gather all this in one place and time. In fact, that is not an easy fact. But the organizers of the 3rd International Festival Femme Fest 2012 managed to cope with it.
The logo of the festival was “Women create”. If a woman has internal necessity to create who can stop her? Some women create as they breathe and as time passes by there are more and more women like that. Keenly listening to themselves and intuition especially women can create something new. The things they lack themselves, city and even the whole world.
During the 3 days of the festival Femme Fest talented and bright women of Russia, France, USA and Norway did and said that is important and necessary for them. The presented their pictures and installations, carried out concerts and shows, read lectures and gave master-classes.
What do modern women care for? Among the discussed topics were rather usual: “How to start your own business”, “How to understand the NEXT generation”, “How to love yourself” as well as painful topics that are usually suppressed by society. “How does time influence us and why are the words “old age” and “death” feminine?” – was the topic of Maria Knyazeva’s installation, a famous photo-painter. “Where is the border between insanity and genius?” – was the question set before the audience of the curator of the installation “Verge” Irina Vilkova. “What does the world like without women” – was the cornerstone of the exhibition participants “World without women” (curator Nataliya Udarceva).
During these wonderful three days one could get answers on the most acute questions: “What is consciousness and who is the boss: brain or man” (Tatyana Chernigovskaya, professor, Doctor of Philosophy and Biology), “How can our genes influence us and vice versa?” (Svetlana Borinskaya, leading researcher of Institute of General Genetics Russian Academy of Science), “According what principles can one project the future?” (Ekaterina Hramkova, designer, tutor of the British High School of Art), “What are the laws of personal sense?” (Ekaterina Mikhailova, a famous Russian psychologist) and so on.
The “main stage” was also filled with energy: refined Galina Bosaya and funny Norwegian girls from MHOO group, talented performance of the German Olga Okrepilova “Hungry tango” and confusion of various styles by “My grandma red banner division”.
Brilliant scientists, poets, business women, musicians, painters – participants of the festival – have given not only food for thinking and new impulse for thoughts and acts but also granted inspiration. As Femme Fest is a festival for and about those who can fearlessly face the reality and influence it, change the world and themselves, move forward and at the same time towards themselves.
